Requirements for a photography career?

Hello, My name is jenny most call me faye. I have recently discovered that more then drawing , I love the ability capture images with a camera. I been doing a lot of looking online but I haven't found any information on how to get a degree in the photography field in Texas and I am really interested in this. I have a niko d40 with telephoto lens and tripod along with a uv haze filter, I have taken some images already but I really want to know what do I need to take to make this a career?
