I'm auditioning for Anything Goes by Cole Porter and...?
In the numerous shows I have auditioned, I tend to stay away from people who sing show tunes in their audition. The people who got the most respect from the audition panel in the last few musicals I have auditioned were the people who sang older jazz songs. The song doesn't have to compliment the show completely, you don't have to sing a Cole Porter song for the audition - but sing an older song that shows off the depth of your vocal range and talent. If it's a clical musical (Like anything goes) sing an old jazz standard. If it's a new age musical like Hair or Rent, sing a rock song.
